North Leeds

Headingley, Meanwood and Chapel Allerton mix stone villas and long slate terraces, with plenty of lofts converted into extra bedrooms. Further out, Moortown, Alwoodley, Roundhay and Adel are mostly inter-war and post-war semis and detached houses in clay or concrete tile. Parts of Headingley, Chapel Allerton and Roundhay are conservation areas, so changes to roof materials there may need permission.

North West Leeds and Wharfedale

Kirkstall’s terraces give way to Horsforth, Rawdon, Yeadon and Guiseley, where stone cottages, semis and newer estates sit side by side. Up the Wharfe at Otley, older stone houses with slate or stone roofs need leadwork and chimney care as much as anything.

West Leeds

Armley, Wortley, Bramley and Stanningley have a lot of Victorian terraces with slate roofs and shared stacks. Pudsey, Farsley, Calverley and Rodley add older stone properties and plenty of semis, many with extensions and garage roofs that need attention.
