What to do while you wait
Put buckets under drips and move furniture, electricals and valuables out of the way. If water is near a light fitting or a sagging ceiling, switch that circuit off at the consumer unit and keep people out of the room. Don’t go on the roof or a ladder in wind or rain. Take a few photos for your insurer if you can do it safely from the ground.
Making it safe, then fixing it properly
The first visit is about stopping water getting in, whether that’s refixing slates, replacing tiles, re-dressing lead or a temporary cover. Once the weather allows, we come back and complete the permanent repair, and we’ll explain what we did and what, if anything, still needs doing.

We won't put anyone at risk in high winds, but there's often something that can be done safely to stop water getting in, such as a temporary cover, with the full repair once conditions allow.
Will my insurance pay for storm damage?
Many policies cover sudden storm damage but not wear and tear. Check with your insurer. We can provide photos and a description of the damage and repair.
A neighbour's slates have fallen onto my property. What should I do?
Keep clear of the area and let your neighbour know. If their roof is still shedding slates, it's a safety issue, and we can come out and look if they ask us to.

If it's growing quickly, dripping or the ceiling is sagging, treat it as urgent and call. A small stain that's stable still needs looking at soon, before the timbers get wet.
